Alquimia grew out of a family project by Dr. Adolfo Murillo, a California optometrist born in Agua Negra, Jalisco, who returned to his ancestral ranch in Los Altos and planted his first blue agave in 1993. Blending his grandfather's traditional farming with modern agronomy, he became a pioneer of certified-organic agave cultivation, and the brand remains a Mexican family operation with his daughters designing the bottle and identity.
