History

Chinaco is the only tequila made in the state of Tamaulipas, produced by the family-run La Gonzaleña distillery whose lineage traces to General Manuel González, president of Mexico from 1880 to 1884. Named for the independent landowner-fighters who defended Mexico in the 18th and 19th centuries, in 1983 it became the first premium tequila sold in the United States.
