Malinalli takes its name from the indigenous woman also known as La Malinche, interpreter and advisor to Hernán Cortés, whom the brand credits with saving thousands of lives by enabling negotiation over war. The family behind the label runs a modern, family-owned distillery in Jalisco on an estate it says has yielded prime agave for a century, marketing itself on balance, complexity and competition awards rather than celebrity backing.
