Tears of Llorona is master tequilero Germán González's self-described greatest creation, an extra añejo inspired by the La Llorona folk legend he heard throughout his childhood. González, whose father founded the La Gonzaleña distillery in Tamaulipas in 1972, uses slow-grown highland agave from volcanic soils and ages the spirit five years simultaneously in Scotch, Sherry and Brandy casks, released in small batches.
